Life goes on in the luxury property market, so far so good!

The biggest and most commonly asked question of our Prime Waterfront & Country House department and the premium sector since the Brexit result has been: "What effect will leaving the EU have on the value of our property?"

The good news is that the answer has been – “very little”. In fact, at Marchand Petit Estate Agents we are pleased to report that since that nail biting and anxiously awaited day, all the signs of sales in the prime waterfront and country house property market have been positive and continue to flourish - in fact we are in need of more quality properties in this sector.

Surprisingly, instead of having the negative effect on the premium property market, everyone was concerned about following the vote, we have seen the opposite. Potential buyers have come out of the woodwork in force with viewings at least doubling on this time last year. Luckily we live in a highly desirable area of Devon and demand for high end luxury properties is still high. We have seen a consistent stream of buyers continuing to invest in this exclusive and exceptionally special area of Devon – The South Hams.

Despite the down turn in the property market in various areas of the UK, the South Hams still remains a safe haven to invest money – either for those wanting a holiday home or looking to relocate here and set up permanent homes.

As a business commanding at least 50% of the premium market in the South Hams, this ensures that both national and international buyers know it makes sense to register their interest for property with us. We see significantly more property than our competitors, so if the properties our buyers require are not on our books, we have plenty discretely available we can offer instead. In the market over £2,000,000, we have seen a number of high profile sales negotiated without going to the open market – an increasingly preferable way of marketing.

Having six offices strategically positioned throughout the South Hams is no accident. At Marchand Petit we understand the individual nature of each sector of the area and their intricacies. The immediacy of having specialist teams located locally and on hand, results in being rapidly responsive and brings with this a wealth of knowledge. Our Prime Waterfront & Country House department provides an excellent resource to work alongside the teams.
