About this property
A superbly positioned substantial detached four bedroom house elevated above "the pool" of the Yealm Estuary. Enjoying panoramic and far-reaching breathtaking views with potential for modernisation. Self contained annexe and triple garages. Private gardens and terraces. No Chain.
Highlands is a substantial detached house strategically positioned high on the hillside, with a south westerly principal aspect, to take maximum advantage of its breathtaking outlook over the tidal waters of the Yealm Estaury.
Designed with large rooms, and featuring a deep semi-circular bay, this is an exceptional house that offers great potential. Internally there is a gracious sweeping staircase rising out of the 45ft long principal reception room. Additionally there is a detached building forming a useful studio suite on the upper floor with excellent garaging below. The gardens are well established including a large terrace to the front, a gravelled drive with level parking and turning space, and a further garden behind. Quick access to the waterfront is by a public footpath leading down from Lower Court Road, and a private footpath (part of the property) runs up to Court Road.
Lower Court Road forms a private cul-de-sac of individual, almost entirely water facing, detached houses, set away from passing traffic in one of the quietest locations within Newton Ferrers.
Newton Ferrers is a much sought after estuary village on the northern slope of the beautiful estuary of the River Yealm within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The village, together with the adjoining Noss Mayo, has a range of amenities which include two churches, primary school, post office, Cooperative store, butchers, chemists, The Dolphin, The Swan and The Ship pubs and very active yacht club. There are also a number of lively U3A groups. Fine cliff top, river, woodland and coastal walks surround the village. Dartmoor National Park is just a short distance away and nearby are several golf courses. The historic and vibrant city of Plymouth is within easy commuting distance. The city's large university has a number of world class faculties and both medical and dental schools. The outstanding Theatre Royal has a national reputation. A regular train service to both London and the north is accessed from either Totnes of Plymouth. Cross channel ferries run to France and Spain.
