About this property
Spacious 3 bed barn conversation with generous landscaped gardens. Garage. Parking.
Hareston Farm Barns is an exclusive range of 14 exceptionally spacious 1, 2 and 3 bedroom homes surrounded by beautiful South Hams countryside. Dart Developments have sympathetically preserved the original fabric and character of this impressive range of old buildings, whilst fulfilling the needs and expectations of the highest of modern living standards. The developers have sourced local materials wherever possible, and have invested in these substantial buildings to exacting standards. Historically built for large scale farm production by the Plymouth Cooperative Society in 1908, the buildings themselves are unusually large, particularly in width, allowing for the design of spectacularly spacious new homes.
In its endeavours to provide and promote good food at fairer prices, the Society was experiencing rapid growth around the end of the 19th Century. In 1903 Plymouth Cooperative Society purchased Hareston Farm (149 acres) to help with ever increasing demands. The redevelopment, primarily as a dairy farm, was completed in 1908. The characteristic stone used in the construction, with brick quoins and occasional granite dressings, reflects later 19th and 20th Century architectural styles for substantial agricultural buildings in this part of the Westcountry.
The location is strategically well set within a short drive of the A38 Devon Expressway, while also being within 2 miles of the superbly equipped village of Yealmpton. Plymouth City Centre and its historic waterfront are only 5 miles away. Both the wide open spaces of the Dartmoor National Park and the unspoilt South Devon coastline are within 20 minutes' drive.
Directions
From the A38 Deep Lane interchange just to the east of Plymouth take the exit marked "Plympton/Sherford". At the T junction turn left and then take the 2nd left signposted Hareston. Continue on that road for about a mile until you come to a Horse Chestnut tree on a grass island on the right. Turn right there and Hareston is just on the left. From the centre of Yealmpton on the A379 turn northwards up Yealmbury Hill and continue to Stony Cross and turn left as signposted to Efford. Follow the lane for about one mile and turn left as signed to Hareston.
