About this property
A detached former chapel, now a contemporary 3 bedroomed house with balcony overlooking the estuary, just yards from the Noss Mayo waterfront. Established holiday let. Riverside and National Trust coastal walks "from the doorstep".
The Old Chapel is a detached substantial stone-built former Methodist Chapel which has been carefully converted to retain the fabulous space, windows, and architectural details of the original structure. Old beams have been painted and wood floors have been refinished to encourage the excellent natural light that is a feature of this local landmark building.
Set back from the frontline, with views across the village and towards the waterfront, the property features a delightful and sheltered external terrace which looks out to the estuary and waterfront.
Remarkably private and currently arranged for holiday letting, for which it has a strong and successful history, the building could equally be a versatile full-time residence with ample opportunity to provide good work-from-home space.
The setting, just back from the frontline of the tidal Noss Hard the property is in a central village location. The Hard provides easy kayak access within 50 yards of the property while Pope's Quay is at about 100 yards.
Long walks are available from the doorstep, along the estuary and around the National Trust headland of The Warren.
The twin villages of Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo straddle the Yealm Estuary.Noss Mayo is a delightful estuary village situated in tranquil surroundings on the southern slopes of the beautiful estuary of the River Yealm which is surrounded by National Trust rolling countryside and includes Lord Revelstoke's Nine Mile Ride - a glorious cliff-top walk in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty within the South Hams. The village amenities include two pubs one with a restaurant and a magnificent Church overlooking the creek.
Both The Ship and The Swan inns are a short walk away, and there is a thriving village hall and well cared for tennis courts in the village. Newton Ferrers has a range of facilities including a Coop supermarket, pharmacist, independent butcher, post office and a primary school, while more comprehensive amenities are to be found in nearby Yealmpton, Modbury, Ivybridge and Plymouth. Deep water moorings and slipway facilities are located around the Yealm Estuary.
