A cracking good time

The first Crabfest, held over the May Bank Holiday in 2016, was a runaway success and the Rotary Club of Salcombe are gearing up for yet another extravaganza day on Sunday, 30th April this year.

A winning collaboration who had a cracking good time at the event, were Marchand Petit and The Galley Girls who hosted drinks and nibbles, crab-themed of course, from their stand on Island Street.

Last year local charities were very much the focus of the successful fund raising event which raised over £10,000 and benefited amongst others the Young Persons Centre and Air Ambulance night landing sites.

Local exhibitors are hoping to raise even more money at this year’s bumper packed event, with emphasis on helping First Responders in our local area.

Harriet Cundy, Director at Marchand Petit commented: “The volume of support impressed all the local businesses who took part last year.  We had wall to wall visitors on the day and we are proud to be part of such a worthwhile event which promotes local tourism and the fishing industry, whilst raising monies for local and national charities.”

The Galley Girls, renowned for their South Devon based catering business, love cooking fantastic food sourced from local suppliers at private dinner parties, weddings, holiday cottage provisioning and special occasions.  They provided delicious crab pate to accompany the refreshments offered by Marchand Petit.

The celebrity guest at this year’s Crabfest will be Matt Tebbutt who presents ‘Food Unwrapped” on Channel 4. Over 3000 seafood lovers descended on Salcombe last year, the town is preparing for another fun packed day at the end of this month.
