Chestnut Appeal Burgh Island Swim Sponsorship

Marchand Petit and the Burgh Island Hotel are delighted to be joining forces and sponsoring a charity swim in aid of the Chestnut Appeal.

The Chestnut Appeal was founded in 1999 at Derriford Hospital and has since gone on to be at the forefront of raising awareness for men’s health issues and care across the region.

Helen Harris, Manager of Marchand Petit’s Modbury office who will be swimming for the cause commented: “The success of the Chestnut Appeal is a testament to what can be achieved when the community works together. Recent fundraising has meant that the charity has been able to purchase MRI Fusion Scanners, which give better prostate cancer diagnosis, for Hospitals across the region”

Registration is now open for the Burgh Island Swim which will take place on Sunday, 22nd September.  It is one of the most spectacular round island swims in the UK and is an excellent chance to take part in an iconic swim around an island that is synonymous with glamour, art deco style, film star and historical connections.

David Squires, events manager at the Chestnut Appeal added: “The Burgh Island swim is such a great event and in a fantastic location.  If you can swim a mile in a pool and have experience of open water swimming then why not sign up for the challenge?”

Prunella Martin, Director PWCH at Marchand Petit, who plans to take part in the swim, concluded: “Swimmers also raise money through sponsorship, which goes towards helping prostate cancer patients and their families across Devon and Cornwall.  It’s a fun family day out, supporting a great cause and as Burgh Island is celebrating 90 years since opening its doors - that’s an added attraction to joining in and get involved on the morning of 22nd September.”
