Christmas Party fund donated to Kingsbridge Foodbank

Christmas is a time of giving but it can also be a time of year where many families and individuals struggle to have the festive times, we have all come to enjoy.  Kingsbridge Foodbank, a volunteer organisation, will be helping provide a Christmas meal to people in need in Kingsbridge this season by delivering Christmas hampers made up from community donations.

This year at the Marchand Petit were unable to have the usual Christmas party due to COVID-19 restrictions, using the money we would normally spend on a party the Marchand Petit Board of Directors decided to donate £1000 to Kingsbridge Foodbank helping a very worthy cause during a year when it is needed more than ever.

Peter Gardner, Marchand Petit, Managing Director commented “We would encourage others to do the same, it’s humbling how these people are taking care of families and their children throughout the year and this time of year in particular.”

Gerrie and Paula who run the organisation explained the money will go towards buying Christmas presents and supplies to create Christmas Hampers, which will be delivered to the families needing a little help. They explained that this year they are preparing to help more families than usual after what has been a tough year for many and is a vital organisation that provides a lifeline for many affected in the Kingsbridge area.

Gordon Maunder, Company Chairman commented: “As a company, the community is important to us and making sure we support those less fortunate is vital. Kingsbridge Foodbank are delivering a service which offers those in need a helping hand at this time of year and we were delighted to be able to donate and support the work they do.”
