‘Does it have a home office?’ - Forget the kitchen, 2021 is all about the dream home office.

Property Trends Spring 2021

Trends change constantly for buyers looking for their perfect home, beautiful kitchens, big gardens and off-road parking are all key selling points. Little did we know just a year ago, that we were about to undertake one of the biggest changes society and the property industry has known in decades, which would dramatically change the way we use our home.

Even as lockdown 3.0 eases it seems the working from home trend is here to stay and  at the top of the tick list for our buyers is, ‘does it have a home office?’.

The Guardian reported in October last year that; “Before the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, the now ubiquitous term working from home” or WFH already applied to about 5% of us … this rose to 50% when the lockdown was at its severest.”

Three months into 2021 and studies show that 1 in 3 have made the home working a permanent solution, the ‘WFH’ phenomenon has created a huge shift in our buyers needs as families struggling to find space in big cities are moving to the South West for a better work-life balance. For anyone looking to sell their property, this trend should be considered when presenting your home for buyers, box rooms, garden rooms and loft conversions can all be transformed into the perfect WFH space.

But what makes a dream office? We took some time to talk to our team of Sale Negotiators to see which properties we currently have on the market with WFH spaces and what buyers are looking for to make working from home, quite simply, work.
