Marchand Petit’s 2025 Event Round-Up

Marchand Petit’s 2025 Event Round-Up hero

At Marchand Petit, we’ve always believed that a home is more than bricks and mortar; it’s about community, connection, and the lifestyle that comes with living in our remarkable corner of South Devon. That’s why we’re proud to sponsor and support events that celebrate the very best of our towns and villages, coast and countryside.

As 2025 draws on, it’s time to look back at the highlights of the year so far, and ahead to what’s still to come. From classic country shows to seafood festivals and open-water challenges, here’s a round-up of the events we’ve been honoured to be part of.

Spring kicked off with the Flete Point-to-Point, a longstanding tradition where the South Hams’ rich equestrian heritage takes centre stage. Families flocked to watch the thrilling racing, enjoy picnics on the grass, and cheer on both riders and horses. As always, the atmosphere was one of warmth, sport, and good-natured rivalry, a reminder of the rural traditions that give South Devon its unique character. Our stand held a prime position right by the course which mean we felt as if we were in the heart of the action with spectators chatting all things property with us during the downtime, and enjoyed glasses of prosecco whilst doing so!

The first weekend in May is a busy one for us because the day after Flete, we set up at the ever-popular Salcombe Crabfest, which never fails to pull in visitors from near and far. This year’s event was bigger than ever, with top chefs demonstrating how to make the most of Salcombe’s famous brown crab, live music drifting through the harbour, and plenty of local produce to savour. Supporting Crabfest is a natural fit for us, after all, it celebrates the best of coastal life, something we’re proud to share with buyers and sellers in the region.

Swimmer entering the sea at Burgh Island Swim event

The annual Burgh Island Swim in July saw hundreds of swimmers take to the water to complete the historic route around this iconic island to raise money for The Chestnut Appeal. Not for the faint-hearted, it’s a true test of endurance and spirit, but also a fantastic fundraising event. Standing on the shoreline, it was impossible not to feel inspired by the determination of those who took part. The swim raised over £18,000 for The Chestnut Appeal which will help support the incredible work they do for Men’s Health.

The Yealmpton Show at the end of July once again proved why it’s one of Devon’s most beloved agricultural events. From prize livestock and equestrian displays to trade stands and children’s entertainment, it showcased the very best of country living. The show offers a wonderful opportunity to meet so many members of the community we serve, a day of tradition, heritage, and good fun. We once again partnered up with Tropic Breeze who offered their ever-popular rum punch and provided some sweet treats throughout the day. Plus, Pollinator-friendly plants, courtesy of Gardentime and Rose Cottage Flowers added a splash of vibrancy and a sweet floral aroma to the tent. The Marchand Petit stand is always buzzing with atmosphere and at some points, almost too crowded to move around! But, that’s exactly how we like it – sharing the experience with clients past, present and hopefully future!

View over the fields, people and vintage tractors at the Kingsbridge Agriculture Show

September brought the Kingsbridge Show, a highlight in the South Hams calendar. A blend of agriculture, entertainment, and community spirit, it perfectly captured the balance of tradition and modernity that defines life in this part of Devon. From cattle competitions to local craft stalls, it was a day to celebrate all things rural and local, with a little something for everyone. Our newly designed doggy bandanas were a huge hit at the show, it was wonderful to see a sea of dapper dogs donning the Marchand Petit sails throughout the day! Tropic Breeze was our hospitality partner again at the Kingsbridge Show, but new to this year, we also paired with local cider-makers Heron Valley who provided ample amounts of classic Devonshire cider and sweet apple juice. Gardentime put on an exquisite display of autumnal flowers and Weaver Green’s furnishings truly added the cherry on top!

Golf with Marchand Petit at the Thurlestone Golf Course

Alongside these flagship events, we’ve also been delighted to sponsor and support other much-loved gatherings across the region. The golf tournaments at Thurlestone Golf Club and Dainton Gold Club brought together players from across the South Hams in a spirit of camaraderie and competition whilst raising money for some fantastic local charities. The Saltram Rotary Classic Car Show was another highlight, celebrating heritage and engineering with some truly stunning vehicles on display, delighting enthusiasts and families alike. We’ve also sponsored the likes of the Dittisham Regatta, the Stoke Gabriel carnival, Salcombe Town Regatta, the Wembury School Summer Fete and a race within the Dartmouth Regatta; events large and small that are the crux in bringing together members of our community. We’ve also sponsored our very own Chloe Inch, Senior Sales Negotiator in our Salcombe office who plays in the Kingsbridge Rugby Club team!

Looking ahead, we’re especially excited for the upcoming Salcombe Live Festival in October, when the town will come alive with music, performance, and creativity. Hopefully we’ll see you there!

As we reflect on 2025’s packed calendar, one thing is clear: our community is thriving. From the shores of Salcombe to the fields of Yealmpton and the showgrounds of Kingsbridge, South Devon’s traditions, passions, and creativity continue to shine.

We’re honoured to play our part in these events, and as always, we look forward to welcoming new residents who want to be part of this very special way of life.
