About this property

A traditional detached farmhouse with stone barn and separate stone garage/studio, standing in gardens of about 1.4 acre forming a sheltered dell quietly set in outstanding countryside within 3 miles of the coast, and within easy reach of the A38.

Description/Situation:

North Fursdon Farm offers a rare combination of seclusion and privacy while also being remarkably conveniently set within easy reach of the one of the most undeveloped and beautiful parts of the South Devon coast, and yet close to quick road links to the A38 and M5, and both Plymouth and Exeter. The comprehensively equipped village of Yealmpton is only 2 miles away and the yachtsman's haven of Newton Ferrers is only 4 miles distant. Dartmoor is only about 10 minutes' drive to the north.

Protected by being within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the property nestles in a delightful partly wooded dell at the end of a small lane which only serves a couple of other properties. The beauty of this setting has to be seen to be appreciated. The garden, which encircles the house, is private and sheltered, with various fruit trees, sweeping lawns, all leading down to a pond, well, and a small stream creating a serene natural wildlife habitat.

The immensely characterful farmhouse boasts thick stone walls, exposed timbers and classically proportioned window openings. Engineered oak floors and herringbone patterned areas are to be found in principal parts of the ground floor, and there are Efel and Jotul woodburners in the kitchen and sitting room. The large Amdega conservatory is equipped with underfloor heating. The westernmost, one bedroom, portion of the farmhouse could form separate accommodation and has, in the past, been used as a holiday letting.

The detached stone garage has, on the upper floor, a most useful studio/workspace and store.
The detached stone barn in the rear garden is over 38ft in length, with high ceiling, and reproduction flagstone floor. Adjoining Garden Store.

On the 18th May 2020, in line with government guidelines for estate agency, we resumed viewings and valuations of property. Where possible we will be minimising the numbers of viewings by first offering buyers a virtual tour. When viewings take place in person, social distancing and safety protocols will be in place.

We would like to remind all buyers that travel to the South Hams should be achievable in a day (round trip) and for those who live further away, a virtual tour with one of our agents will be offered until travel restrictions change.

In the meantime, our team are still available to help by phone, email or video conference.
