About this property
A grade II listed home set within 4 acres of communal gardens in the sought after village of Harberton. NO CHAIN
3 Dundridge Court is a grade II listed home situated within a converted 18th Century country mansion in the popular village of Harberton. The property enjoys a rural outlook and is set within 4 acres of stunning communal grounds.
The front door leads from a paved courtyard into a large hall with 14ft ceilings. There are 3 bedrooms here; one presently used as a study is a double room overlooking the front garden and terrace. The other 2 bedrooms are large doubles with one having very recently been converted to incorporate a mezzanine floor. This room has a private ensuite shower room with toilet and sink. It also has a door to the outside and a large private patio. There would be the possibility to create a self-contained flat
There is another toilet/shower room in the hallway, as well as a small utility room under the stairs.
The largest room of the house is also the showpiece. Measuring more than 25ft square, this room includes a modern kitchen, a dining room area, and a large sitting area, complete with large woodburner. To one side is a door to a small Juliette balcony, and to the other 4 large glass doors opening onto part of the upper terrace. This has stunning unspoilt views over the garden and surrounding countryside.
On the top floor are 2 further good sized double bedrooms. One has an ensuite shower room with toilet and sink. In the hallway, is another bathroom. Both rooms are very light and warm with Velux windows. There is also a small storage room.
The property benefits from a single garage, allocated parking and visitors parking.
Dundridge was originally a Manor house belonging to the Harvey family in the Victorian Era. Previous to that it may have belonged to the Luttrell family (Dunster Castle) who had it built in the late 1700s.
The gardens, amounting to over 4 acres, are really the jewel in the crown here. The views are unspoilt with virtually no buildings in sight, and rolling Devon countryside for miles. It is a special pleasure to sit out on the lawn on a sunny day, entertaining friends, sunbathing, BBQing or just soaking in the view! I will miss this more than anything else! With the recent planting of 20 or so specimen trees including Magnolia, Acer and fruit trees amongst others, the garden is going to look spectacular in a few years - at least I'll be able to visit!
We brought up children here, which I think deserves a special mention. It is perfectly suited to families with young children, where safety is a always an issue. The kids never wanted to leave the place, so it became an open door policy!
My house would make a excellent home for the right people or family. You would pay large premium to have what we have here as a detached house! The location is brilliant. Beautiful beaches 20 minutes to the south, and Dartmoor 20 minutes to the north. Just over 1 ½ hours to Bristol, and 3 hours on the train to London!
Harberton village is within a short distance of Totnes market town, the commercial centre for the South Hams. This part of Devon is renowned for its outstanding natural beauty, with Dartmoor National Park to the north and stunning beaches and coastline ten miles to the south. Harberton village has a strong community, which centres around the parish hall, St Andrews Church and the well-regarded Church House Inn. The nearby medieval market town of Totnes has a mainline railway station giving direct connections to London Paddington. There is easy access to the A38 Devon Expressway, linking Plymouth and Exeter where it joins the M5. Schooling in the area is excellent with a number of well-regarded primary and secondary schools. Totnes boasts a market as well as a good selection of shops, supermarkets, restaurants and inns.
On leaving Totnes head towards Kingsbridge (A381) and take the first marked turning on your right hand side sign posted to Harberton. Dundridge will be found some 150 yards on the left hand side passing through the stone entrance posts.
