About this property

A waterside detached house with much potential, built in the 1920s and remaining in the same family ownership, with self-contained suite, gardens and water frontage to the Yealm Estuary.

Description and Location
Built in the 1920s and remaining in the same family ownership, this is a prime waterfront property with an absorbing aspect both up and downstream over a length of the Yealm Estuary, and across to Newton Ferrers. In the 1990s the accommodation was expanded with the provision of a self-contained suite on the lower floor. The garden includes a level lawned terrace leading out from the lower floor, extending out to a sheltered terrace looking downstream. A path then leads down to the waterfront where there is a private quay, outhaul mooring and slipway.

The position is more or less central within Noss Mayo, and only a few minute's walk of The Swan and The Ship pubs. The twin villages of Noss Mayo, and Newton Ferrers lie to the far South West corner of the South Hams, dominated by the unspoilt scenery of the National Trust owned coast, forming an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A range of all year round amenities can be found here, including two churches, Post Office, three pubs, Yacht Club, WI and community halls, thriving U3A, a bus route and a primary school. The advantages of this location are many, being within only a short drive of the A38, placing the M5 at Exeter within easy driving distance, normally about 50 minutes away.

Deep water moorings on the Yealm Estuary lie with the village area, but, while the estuary is a favourite for yachtsmen, the outstanding facilities of Plymouth are only a short distance away. Plymouth City Centre is comprehensively equipped and there are many attractions such as the renowned Theatre Royal, The Box museum, gallery and local archive, Elizabethan Barbican, The historic Hoe, large University, and regional hospital.
