It has a large area of common grassland on its perimeter which most visitors see when they first approach the village. The village is home to The Creek which is a small bay on a bend in the River Dart known as Dittisham Lake. It has a small beach perfect for launching a small river craft, fishing, watching wildlife or sight seeing. Galmpton has a great shop full of local fresh produce, along with the village hall, pub and church. Every year Galmpton hosts the "Gooseberry Pie-Fair" which is run as an afternoon of fun for the village with lots of stalls raising money for charity.
